Baby's gums can be cleaned with a soft cloth dipped in water or a soft baby toothbrush. Once the baby's teeth have erupted, brushing should be done twice a day with a soft toothbrush and an appropriate fluoride toothpaste. 

If the child is under two years, only a small amount of toothpaste should be used. For children between the ages of two and five, a pea-sized drop of toothpaste should be used.

Since very young children usually do not have the motor skills to brush their teeth properly, parents need to supervise the process. This supervision may be necessary until the child is about six years old.
